About Texcellent
Texcellent is focused on one clear mission:
To be the premier destination for tax preparers seeking high-quality educational materials on state and federal education-related tax credits.
We created Texcellent because we saw a real gap in the market. Tax preparers are often the most trusted point of contact for taxpayers, but the filing season window is usually too compressed to allow for the kind of deeper education that many education-related tax credit opportunities require.
Texcellent exists to help fill that gap.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help tax preparers explain education-related tax credits more clearly, more confidently, and more proactively.
We want to make it easier for tax professionals to educate clients throughout the year, not just during filing season, so they can provide more value, deepen trust, and help clients make better-informed decisions.
The Problem We Solve
From January through April 15, most tax preparers are operating under intense time pressure.
In that environment, important educational conversations often happen too late or not at all. Clients may hear about an education-related tax credit when the filing deadline is already near. By then, even a potentially useful strategy may feel rushed, inconvenient, or financially burdensome.
Texcellent helps shift those conversations earlier.
Our materials are designed to support year-round education, when the tax preparer has more room to act as a value-added advisor rather than being limited to deadline-driven return work.
Why Year-Round Education Matters
For many education-related tax credit opportunities, the best planning does not happen at the last minute.
A more proactive, year-round approach can help taxpayers understand the rules earlier, evaluate their options more comfortably, and reduce the pressure of having to come up with one large one-time donation near the deadline.
That is why Texcellent emphasizes educational support throughout the year. The earlier the conversation begins, the more useful the planning can become.
Our Tax Preparer First Philosophy
Texcellent is designed to support tax professionals, not replace them.
We believe tax preparers, CPAs, enrolled agents, and other qualified advisors should remain the central professionals helping taxpayers understand how general concepts apply to their individual circumstances.
Texcellent’s role is to make the educational layer clearer. The tax professional’s role is to provide judgment, context, and individualized advice.
What Texcellent Provides
Texcellent creates practical educational materials that tax preparers can use with real clients, including:
- explainer videos that simplify complex concepts
- infographics that make key ideas easier to understand
- plain-language educational guides
- state and federal education-related tax credit summaries
- frequently asked questions
- client-friendly materials that help support earlier, better conversations
Our focus is not on replacing professional advice. Our focus is on making education-related tax credit topics easier to explain.
How Texcellent Is Supported
To support the development, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of its educational materials, Texcellent may in some cases work with selected organizations on paid outreach or awareness initiatives related to education-related tax credit programs.
As part of those outreach or awareness initiatives, Texcellent may include or share direct links to the applicable organization’s website or donation page. These links are provided so that interested taxpayers may learn more about the organization or make a donation directly to that organization.
Any donation made through such a link goes directly to the applicable organization, not to Texcellent. Texcellent does not receive, hold, collect, or process charitable donations intended for those organizations.
Tax preparers remain fully independent in deciding whether and how to use Texcellent materials, whether to share any links, and whether to discuss any education-related tax credit opportunity with clients.
Our Long-Term Role
Texcellent aims to become the default educational resource tax preparers think of when they need clear, current, practical materials on education-related tax credits.
That means building content with breadth, depth, clarity, and regular updates so tax professionals can rely on it year after year.
